Boat Recycling

Recycle Your Old Boat Quickly and Safely

Boatrecycling.co.uk is part of the Boatbreakers family and work closely with the team at Boatbreakers to provide boat owners with a boat recycling solutions. Boat recycling can be a tricky business as the large majority of vessels out on the water are made from Fibreglass (GRP). Fibreglass currently has no real re-use so is currently sent to landfill.

Eventually there may be recycling solutions to be able to return the GRP to its base elements and reuse them to make things but this technology is in its infancy. However, whilst GRP is still a stumbling block in boat recycling it doesn’t stop us stripping boats of all the good bits and making them available to boat owners across the country.

The team at Boatbreakers deal with hundreds of enquiries from boat owners looking to dispose of their end of life boat. Once the boat is back in our yard at Portsmouth we let our boat recycling team strip the boat down of her anything that may be useful. We try and recycle as much as possible and usually we will remove and store items like: mast, boom, sails, winches, pulpits, pushpits, engines, propellers and electronic systems.

If you have an end of life boat that you think our boat recycling team would be able to strip down and dispose of then follow the links to our Boatbreakers page. Fill in our scrap calculator and receive a quote to see how much it would cost to get our team to dispose of your end of life boat.

Usually the average price of a yacht or motor boat disposal is around £700-£800, but in certain circumstances we may be able to accept the boat for free due to the possible returns we could make after the boat recycling process.
